The short version

We use a small number of cookies. Most of them exist so that logging in works at all. We do not currently run any advertising cookies, and nothing on this site is tracking you across other websites to sell you things.

What a cookie is, briefly

A cookie is a small file a website leaves in your browser so it can recognise you on the next page load. Without them, a site cannot remember that you just logged in — every click would look like a stranger arriving.

The cookies LewdPub sets

Strictly necessary — the site does not work without these

  • Session cookie (laravel_session) — keeps you logged in as you move between pages. Deleted when you close your browser, or when it expires.
  • XSRF-TOKEN — a security cookie. It proves that a form was submitted from our site and not from an attacker's page. This is the cookie that stops someone else posting a comment as you.
  • Remember-me token — only set if you tick "remember me" at login. It is what keeps you signed in after you close the browser.
  • Cookie notice preference — remembers that you dismissed the cookie banner, so it does not follow you around the site.

These cannot be turned off while still using an account, because they are the login. If you block them you can still browse the site logged out.

Analytics

  • Google Analytics (cookies beginning _ga) — counts visitors and shows us which games people actually open. We look at it in the aggregate, to work out what to add to the site next. We are not reading individual browsing sessions.

Security

  • Google reCAPTCHA — runs on the download button and sets cookies from Google's own domains to work out whether you are a person or a script. Without it, bots would scrape every download link on the site within a day. This one is Google's, and Google's privacy policy governs it.

Advertising

None, right now. There is no ad network on LewdPub today and no advertising cookies are being set.

We will probably add advertising at some point — hosting and bandwidth are not free, and the site has no other income. When that happens, ad networks will set their own cookies, and we will update this page to name them before they go live rather than quietly afterwards.

Cookies set by other people's sites

When you click a download you leave LewdPub and land on Mega, Pixeldrain, Datanodes, or whichever host holds the file. Those sites set their own cookies and run their own tracking, and we have no say in it. The same is true of Discord and Telegram if you follow us there. Their cookie policies apply once you are on their turf.

How to get rid of cookies

Every browser lets you see, block, and delete cookies — usually under Settings, then Privacy. You can block everything if you like.

Fair warning about what breaks if you do: you will not be able to log in, so no comments, no watchlist, no history. Browsing games and downloading will still work fine.

If you want the analytics gone specifically, Google publishes a browser add-on that opts you out of Google Analytics everywhere, not just here.

Changes

If we add or remove cookies — and adding an ad network would be the big one — this page gets updated and the date at the top changes.
